“And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) Obeying that commission, we moved to Yuba City to reach our own people in July 2009. But we didn’t have to “go into all the world,” as many of them came to us! More than 75,000 Sikhs came to Yuba City, CA the first weekend of November for their annual festival, celebrating the 301st anniversary of their holy book, the Granth Sahib. As our ministry is to reach the Punjabi’s in this area with the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, it was a tremendous opportunity to distribute Christian tracts and the Jesus film in Punjabi, while we witnessed along the parade route.

In this city of many Christian churches, we were disappointed to find that only 12 believers took advantage of the opportunity to witness to these thousands of lost souls! Our hearts were encouraged as we joined with Dr. Cynthia Petross, who heads up the American Ethnic Ministry to reach Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims for Jesus in this area. We set up a table in front of the AEM office, which is directly on an important part of the parade route, and where thousands of Sikh families passed by.

The “enemy devil” tried hard to hinder us from getting into the office area from the very beginning. We were following Jack and Dollie Harvey into the area, and saw that the policeman stopped their cars before us. We were afraid that we would get a ticket, so we turned our car away to find some other way to get into the area. The traffic was so heavy and so many streets were blocked, we almost came to a point of just going back and attending church. We prayed for Divine direction and God told us to go back to the police at the gate and explain that we had an appointment in the building. We saw the favor of the Lord as the policewoman turned back other cars, but kindly assisted us, Praise God!!!

We filled our bags with literature and DVDs, and left the rest of the materials in the building so we could come back and refill our bags. But again the Enemy attacked, because after everybody went out, an Indian tenant we didn’t know was in the building came out and locked the door. Dr. C’s keys were upstairs in her office. We again went to prayer, and before long the Indian tenant came back to check on something and let us in. No one can hinder the Plan of God for His people! Truly, the fields here are ripe unto harvest, but the laborers are few. Please pray for the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers!
