2009 is now past. I felt very honored at our annual conference in August to be given a plaque for 60 years of service.
Now you will find me five mornings a week from 8:30-12:30 at our lovely headquarters doing a variety of jobs. Mondays and Thursdays are “open the mail” day, putting into the computer all donations and sending out receipts. Having worked in four different banks in the past I enjoy bookkeeping very much.
Back in the year 2000 I started a ministry: SCAMPs (Senior Citizens Are Marvelous People), which is still meeting the third Monday of every month. I would like to see it increase in number this year with new seniors that meet at the Senior Center here in Turlock. Shown is a picture of the group working on a puzzle. Of course there always has to be food and coffee or tea. It can be muffins, coffee cake or even bagels. The morning includes singing some of the old songs, and Pastor Bob of my church, First Baptist, always giving a short, thoughtful devotion.
Visitation also plays a part in my ministry. It can be a lonely life for some and they look forward to a friendly outside face. I really enjoy visiting Mabel, whose husband was on the board of the MGF. This year she will be 100 years old. We have a good time at her assisted living quarters.
Appreciate your praying for me that 2010 will continue to be a good year and that I may continue to stay healthy.
