Jack and Dollie serve as Public Relations / Media Director for MGF. They prepare the quarterly FELLOWSHIP BULLETIN, brochures, and presentations via cyberspace, which allows them to live in northern California, near two of their sons and five of their grandchildren.
They have begun a new work in Yuba City, an area that is 59.6% East Asian, predominately Sikhs from the Punjab region of India. Very little ministry has been done with this huge population, so the Harveys are working as facilitators to bring in Punjabi-speaking missionaries, teaching children in a small Punjabi congregation, and serving as mentors to Punjabi Christian adults. Sundays are especially busy for the Harveys, as the begin the day at the Cooper Ave. Baptist Church, where Dollie plays the piano for Adult Sunday School, and where both help wherever and whenever needed. Then they rush over to the Punjabi church, where Jack occasionally preaches, both sometimes help with the music, and both direct the children’s ministries.
With many years experience in counter-cult ministries among the Mormons, they continue to write books and tracts to inform Christians about the cults, and to help keep seekers from entering the cults. This is especially needful among the Punjabi Christians, who are a target for the Mormons.
Jack and Dollie also continue their ministry as VBS directors for an association of about 30 California churches, training workers and helping with vacation Bible schools in this needy area. In 2009, they are planning a VBS “blitz” in Yuba City, hoping to conduct backyard Bible schools in strategic Indian neighborhoods. They are on the Executive Board of the Sierra Butte Baptist Association, and are helping to plan a huge VBS outreach at the Migrant Labor Camp in Yuba City in August.
PRAISE that they have been readily accepted in the Punjabi community. Prayer needs for strength and stamina. Dollie's hemotologist says that, while he can't cure her leukemia, he can "Keep her going!" So please pray that we'll just keep going...and going...and going! |
